Erlotinib (Tarceva), is a drug approved in order to be used for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and pancreatic cancer. Specifically it is used for NSCLC with mutations in the EGFR: either an exon 19 deletion or the exon 21 substitution mutation, which has spread to other organs of the body. With a reasonable erlotinib price it comes in tablet form, which should be taken by mouth on an empty stomach at least 1-hour before or 2-hours after food. Erlotinib specifically is a receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor, believed to act on epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR).
