Interferon beta 1a is also known as interferon beta 1-alpha is a cytokine which is used to treat multiple sclerosis. It belongs to the class of drug family known as interferon. It reduces the effect and severity of relapses and disability. The initial dose of interferon beta 1a is 7.5 micrograms and later on it may be increased by same dose each week for next 3 weeks and reaches to 30 micrograms. There are some side effects of this medication like Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting itching, fever, chills and hair loss.
